So, we acquired Derek Grant to take the place of Joel Farabee? Not sure I like that move. |

Thinking about getting tickets to this game. But I do pause since the last time I went to a Sharks game in Philly we got destroyed at the home opener. |

Short term, it's the right move. |

Farabee hasn’t been playing well. He is 19 he’ll be back. |

I don't know much, if anything at all about Derek Grant. But if he's more offensively gifted than defense or doesn't play much of a 200ft game I understand his spot in the lineup. |

He's acted as the Ducks third line center this year. He's played well. The offense he's provided this year is somewhat fluky, but he's a decent faceoff guy and responsible in his own end. Doesn't make sense to move him to second line wing. He can play wing, but he's definitely had more experience at center. Thompson is redundant, adding both of them made no sense. |

I thought he was a good pk and descent defensive player. Hence playing with Hayes on a shutdown line. Guessing if patty plays this year (hoping) then scott slides up with Hayes grant to 4 th with Thompson as 13 th. If NAK struggles in playoffs in Thompson goes. |

I'm happy with the moves. They didn't break the bank, and it gives us depth down the stretch run. It's looking like Patrick won't be back (at least not with 100% capacity) this season, so they got some more pieces they can work with.
Now, let's avoid the trap tonight and get two big points!

I agree that the 2 moves seem a little redundant. The Thompson deal happened firtst, right? Gotta wonder if Fletcher was working on both deals, maybe sensed that the Grant deal might not go through, so pulled the trigger on Thompson. Then, since we could afford to do so, he still made the Grant deal once it materialized. We'll likely never know, but just a thought.
Plus they're both UFAs after this year, right? So adding both, even if it is redundant isn't really a big deal, or any reason to give Fletcher a hard time IMO. Veteran center depth for the playoffs is a good thing, and at the price it cost seems reasonable. |

A minor league swap of players with Chicago?
Hopefully, just a matter of time until Nathan Noel is a 40-goal scorer. |

Flyers got a taker on Brennan. That's all they wanted. The relationship was already over. |

Agree with your take on these trades. No issue with having more depth coming down the stretch into the playoffs (hopefully). They didn't cost us a lot, so I don't see the need for anyone to come down on Fletch bc of these two pickups. |

What was the fracture over? Brennan felt he deserved a call-up or ??? |

The cost was basically nothing, so that isn't an issue. That could be a good point, maybe he thought he wouldn't be able to get Grant so he brought Thompson in first. Who knows. The team has been playing well. I totally agree with upgrading Bunnaman and Grant does that without question. |

I'm not going to berate him, but the Thompson deal does seem a bit redundant with the Grant deal since both can play center. But whatever, not a huge deal. |

Does it seem that these 2 moves are the flyers basically saying they are shelving Patrick for this year? |

I almost feel like we need Patrick back after these two moves. I totally understand that a Patrick might not be up to speed or standard right away but why keep him practicing if he wasn’t expected to return? Fletcher and Patrick have voiced that they’re hopeful he’ll play this season. |

It's not at all redundant. Grant can play wing or center. It gives the team NHL depth.

Patrick was never playing this year. It's March and he hasn't been cleared for contact. Missing an entire season due to migraines. Wonder how many times that has happened in the NHL. Has to be dozens. |

I agree that Thompson is more of an odd one compared to Grant, but I do feel the two additions make us better right now. I'm sure Bunnaman and Farabee will get back in the lineup sooner than later. Both have what it takes to play in the NHL, but I think both will be better for getting more playing time in the AHL. I like our forward depth heading down the stretch. If NoPa comes back and stays healthy, that will be a huge bonus. |

Giroux-Couturier-Voracek

Raffl-Thompson-NAK
This is how I would have gone, considering Laughton looks better at wing, has spent most the season there and has had solid chemistry with Hayes. |
